Five sparrows are sold for just two pennies, but God doesn’t forget one of them. Even the hairs on your head are counted. So don’t be afraid! You are worth much more than many sparrows.
Many of the things you can count, don’t count. Many of the things you can’t count, really count.
Count. It’s an interesting word. In sentence structuring, it can act as a noun — calculation, sum, reckoning. It can also serve as a verb with more than one definition — add up, tote up, tally; consider, deem, view; be valid, acceptable, allowed; or matter, important, significant.
All good words. All useful words. But I wonder which definition Jesus was using when he told his disciples, “Even the hairs on your head are counted.” The literal sense? It wouldn’t surprise me. But I think Jesus wants us to know that we count … that we matter … that we are valid and we are important. Each one of us.
And that’s a promise we can count on.

If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought.
During an intimate conversation with friends recently, this question was asked: “How do you pray?” There were a variety of answers, of course from sitting in silence with God to a committed morning prayer time. Others may sing hymns during a solo commute to a job, while some prefer prayer groups or prayer chains. Perhaps prayer is most satisfying during a worship service in community or sitting alone with a prayer journal, diligently lifting up all those in need of prayer, one by one.
Some pray and express faith through service.
